YOUR LOCAL LIFESTYLE FOR BETTER HEALTH CENTER

WHERE CIRCULATION MEANS HEALTH

It all started with a diagnosis of invasive, aggressive, metastatic breast cancer in 1996. Donna had just left a position in a Cancer Prevention Program at Morehouse School of Medicine to join the GA State Office of Nutrition. The prognosis was extremely poor.  And options were few. Trained in Home Economics/Nutrition at Oakwood College and Public Health Education at Loma Linda University, she was very familiar with the role of "lifestyle choices" on disease incidence  was determined to thoroughly seek out "healthy lifestyle" options as part of her care.  She prayed.  She found them at Wildwood Lifestyle Center and Hospital in Wildwood, GA.  She was convinced.  She changed her lifestyle.  She did radiation.  She saw improvements. Not just in the breast cancer, but in her overall health.  She was committed to overhauling her approach professionally and creating experiences for people who wanted to "take charge of their health" via healthier lifestyle choices.  And, for the last 21 years she has provided wellness coaching, health education and plant-based cooking classes.

Donna has had a rewarding career of providing leadership in developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating Public Health Initiatives, Interventions, Programs, Services and staff at the national, state and local levels, and in the college/university setting, (teaching for 8 years at her own alma mater Oakwood University) with specific emphasis in Nutrition, Healthy Cooking and Healthy Lifestyle Education including point of purchase education; she successfully negotiated and acquired contracts with state, public and private organizations. As Eddie watched Donna's health improve via the healthy lifestyle choices she was making, he was particularly struck by the changes he saw through her use of hydrotherapy.  He had graduated in Physical Therapy from Tuskegee Institute.  He remembered learning how the body could be improved by the use of hydrotherapy.  He wondered if his own patients could benefit.  He prayed.  And, as he introduced it as part of his care plan with his home health patients, he watched in amazement as those who were suffering from diabetic neuropathy, improved significantly. And, in some cases, actually reversed the neuropathy, and were able to cancel scheduled amputations.  He began to seek out the links between physical therapy rehab and lifestyle choices and was challenged by what he found.  He was determined to qualify himself for even greater impact with his patients.

He completed the Health Focused Patient Management Program at the UAB School of Physical Therapy.  This certificate qualifies him to incorporate healthier lifestyle options into the care of all of his general physical therapy patients.  This is especially critical for his patients who are Diabetic, Hypertensive, Heart Disease or Arthritic patients. In addition, patients who have acquired Chermothrapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy are also benefited.

He also assists patients with weight loss and conditioning which include Fitness Readiness Measures. His experience in Injury Prevention would benefit worksite wellness.

He and his wife Donna, a health educator. own and operate Lifestyle Therapeutix, A Lifestyle For Better Health Center offering general physical therapy, specialized physical therapy and healthy lifestyle/wellness coaching up to and including hands-on, skills-building sessions for their patients. And, as he explains the link between choice and health, it's like a light goes on in his patients minds.

After beginning a career at Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, GA, Eddie provided rehab care via hospital, clinic and home health care settings.  He also served as a clinic administrator.  He absolutely  loves the care he can now provide his patients in a clinic whose focus is Health and Wellness! And, is continuing to see miracles happen every day!
